a. Operational States
Because of the capabilities and limitations of each state, the procedures and system

controls available to the operator vary. The internal control switches for each of these
states are shown in figure 2-6.
q The combined settings of these controls and switches, in conjunction with the terminal
configuration, determine the operating state of the system.
b. After the system has been prepared for starting, the operator must set the terminal's
switches and controls. The terminal may be operated in each of the following operating
states:
Receive Only (RO) state.
q
Keyboard Send/Receive (KSR) state.
q
Intelligent Communications Terminal (lCT) state.
Each state is explained in table 2-1.
